Piccolo Volume 2 — Martino Gamper
This publication follows up the 100 chairs in 100 days by Martino Gamper. Making more chairs and tables to go with food to eat and additional pieces for the feet, buttocks and eyes.
Martino Gamper lives and works in East London. Starting as an apprentice with a furniture maker in Merano, Gamper went on to study sculpture under Michelangelo Pistoletto at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna. He completed a Masters in 2000 from the Royal College of Art, London, where he studied under Ron Arad.
Working across design and art venues, Martino Gamper engages in a variety of projects from exhibition design, interior design, one-off commissions, and the design of mass-produced products for the cutting edge of the international furniture industry.
We know Martino through the London-based design collective Åbäke – he co-founded publishing house Dent-De-Leone with Åbäke members Kajsa Ståhl and Maki Suzuki. For us, his work is like walking down a side street in a town in northern Italy, going from one trattoria to another. He contributed to one of our earliest cookbooks, and is world-renowned for his love of ginger.
