Zine Series No.40 Distant Egghug by Peter McDonald
Distant Egghug is a zine by artist Peter McDonald. In this playful sequential story one of the artist’s figures, with its archetypal head halo, embraces a large amorphous object. Beginning as a tiny dot on the landscape and approaching with every turn of the page, their world is a vibrant, parallel universe onto which the viewer can project their own reality.
Peter McDonald is a Japan-born artist living and working between London and Tokyo. His bold, colourful paintings examine human behaviour through scenes from modern life – from cafés and art galleries to basketball courts and carpet shops, reimagined in surreal, abstract landscapes. Humorous and always unexpected, he works with a playful approach to perspective and form.
Distant Egghug is accompanied by a collection of three risograph prints: Pink Egghug, Black Egghug and Orange Egghug.
It goes without saying that we treasure our family member Hato Press' projects, and love to champion the artists and collaborators they work with. We are one and the same… but also not.
