Zine 35 in the Hato Press Zine Series is here: Join Us by Japanese artist Maria Sakurai invites the reader to participate in her dreamy pastel shaded zine, full of weird and wonderful characters. Space has been left throughout for children or adults alike to scribble and sketch their own entities, alongside Maria’s, supplied with a pencil.
Maria Sakurai is a visual artist based in Tokyo. Her playful, character-based work is inspired by movies, music, and subcultures.
It goes without saying that we treasure our family member Hato Press' projects, and love to champion the artists and collaborators they work with. We are one and the same… but also not.
