No.36 DALL-E 2 DREAMS OF HAIKUS by Modem

£9

When OpenAI unveiled DALL-E 2, an advanced AI system capable of generating images from a text description, Modem tasked it with creating images based on haikus by 17th-century master Matsuo Bashō. The result is DALL-E 2 DREAMS OF HAIKUS, a poignant exploration of the expressive abilities of AI, and its potential to shift the boundaries of human imagination.

Modem is an office for design and innovation. Working as a hybrid between a think tank and design studio, we envision how human minds and institutions can thrive in the midst of exponential technological change.

Complimenting the designers and objects we work with in the store with our own publishing and projects is a joy. The relationship between our own work and our selection of product continues to change and evolve, it is a journey.

Hato Press is an independent publishing house established in 2009. It produces books, zines and other objects in collaboration with artists; exploring people, play, culture and community in unexpected ways. And, of course, it’s a longstanding part of the HATO family.
