'Bill' Stool
A collaborative project by Hato Store & Michael Marriott which reworks Max Bill's ULM stool as a homage to the Bauhaus trained Swiss architect / artist who originally designed the stool in 1954 as an exercise for his students to learn through making. The classic design is here re-imagined in recycled birch ply-wood and aluminium with added colour & graphics applied via five different process.
Michael is one of our oldest friends. We’ve worked with him since we started Hato Press in 2009, and he’s collaborated with us on so many different projects, from designing fashion showrooms to an exhibition on the history of the Boundary Estate in east London. We share an iterative design process, and a belief that making is a circular journey, not a linear one.
