Each Bitter Melon Candle is lovingly made by melting unique coloured wax then individually pouring into a mould by hand. Then waiting for each layer to cool and harden before adding the next, creating the layered effect.

Piera Bochner is an artist and designer based in Brooklyn, NY. The candle project was birthed from a love of wax and Piera's desire to investigate how wicks, wax, and flames will travel down new and unconventional paths. The unique candle shapes come from pre-existing forms, such as romanesco broccolis and bitter melons, plucked from the produce stands of Chinatown, Union Square, and the supermarkets of Berlin.
