Pacita Abad: A Million Things To Say
Pacita Abad (1946 - 2004) was a Filipino American visual artist whose pioneering work in textiles was characterised by vibrant colours and an accumulation of processes and materials. Her immense body of work traversed a diversity of subject matter: from tribal masks and social realist tableaus to lush and intricately constructed underwater compositions and abstractions. Abad brought together images and experiences across cultures, economies and histories and offered reflections on the global long before the discourses of globalisation and transnationalism were felt in the art world.
